Call For Proposals
2011 Historic Preservation Conference
Do you have a cutting edge idea or concept? Are you involved with a first-rate project? Are you making advances in fields related to preservation, but before now uncharted territory? If so, then we want you!
We seek proposals that explore issues that challenge communities and present unique historic preservation strategies and models.
In addition, we seek education sessions that highlight models and strategies that conference attendees can apply in their own communities. Sessions that present multiple case studies, solutions, and challenges are of special interest.
Education Sessions cover a variety of topics ranging from “Preservation 101” to advanced discussions of exceptional, cutting-edge issues. Education Session proposals are reviewed by a selection committee, and may be combined when appropriate with other proposed sessions. Your session should be interactive, featuring not more than three speakers and a moderator.
Interactive formats are desired and should fall into one of the following categories:
- Foundational Sessions build capacity for individuals and organizations that may be new to the field or seeking additional knowledge.
- How-To Sessions present step-by-step practical advice on important issues.
- Issues Sessions set up opposing point / counterpoint opinions and ideas for discussion and debate;
- South Carolina History research that is ground-breaking or sheds light on previously completed research on sites, people, or trends in South Carolina History
- Success Sessions highlight successful projects, with “how-to’s” that participants can learn from and take back home.
Please submit your proposal by November 12, 2010. Include a written description of your session, any applicable photographs or PowerPoint presentations, and a list of those speakers who will be participating in the session with contact information. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by January 3, 2011
! Please note that if your proposal fits within a larger theme, you may be paired with other speakers for a group session.
