Presented by the South Carolina State Library for "Why Are We Looking at That?"

A.S. Salley Professional Service Award, April 16, 2013
Presented to Dr. Tracy Power, co-coordinator of the National Register of Historic Places program and coordinator of the state historical marker program. This award recognizes those who “have contributed significantly to some aspect of history or historic preservation and must have professionally advanced the cause of state and/or local history.” 

U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary’s Historic Preservation Award, December 5, 2012
Presented to Dan Elswick, Senior Historic Architecture Consultant, for outstanding achievements in carrying out the National Historic Preservation Act for a State Historic Preservation Office.

Exemplary Human Environment Initiative, October 2010
Presented by the Federal Highway Administration for Process Improvements - US Highway 17 Sweetgrass Corridor. In recognition of an outstanding commitment to the environmental stewardship for developing an early partnership to minimize impact to the sweetgrass basket markers along US 17 in Charleston, South Carolina. The efforts of the project team helped to ensure the continuation of the basket weaving along the corridor during and after construction. This partnership linked the local, regional, State, and Federal partners to identify the impact to the sweetgrass basket markers by providing corridor maps, relocation assistance, signage, a liaison, and new curb cuts.

Exemplary Human Environment Initiative, 2008
Presented by the Federal Highway Administration for Exceptional Human Environmental Stewardship – Preservation of the Fishdam Ford Revolutionary War Battle Site. In recognition of outstanding commitment to improving the human and natural environment in the Preservation of the Fishdam Ford Revolutionary War Battle Site. 

NCSHPO (National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers) Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation, 2005
In recognition of the South Carolina SHPO and its innovative and exemplary educational program for archaeological mitigation.

Woodrow Wilson Award, May 20, 2004
Presented by Historic Columbia in recognition of adopting the State Income Tax Credit for Rehabilitation.

Director’s Heritage Partnership Award, 2003
Presented by the National Park Service to the South Carolina Department of Archives and History and the National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers for exceptional achievement in Historic Preservation.

National Trust for Historic Preservation/Advisory Council on Historic Preservation Award for Federal Partnerships in Historic Preservation, October 10, 2002
An unprecedented collaboration among Navy, Coast Guard, and numerous federal and state agencies (including the South Carolina Department of Archives and History), private-sector organizations, corporations, and individuals for the discovery, raising, restoration, and interpretation of the Confederate submarine H.L.Hunley off Charleston, South Carolina.

Robert N.S. and Patti Foos Whitelaw Founders Award, April 25, 2002
In recognition of Distinguished Achievement in Historic Preservation in Charleston, South Carolina.

Presented by The Confederation of S.C. Local Historical Societies in recognition of the South Carolina Department of Archives and History for Its Outstanding Production, “Lest We Forget: Preserving Historic Cemeteries.”
